Crown Shyness

Do you know what Crown Shyness is? No, it’s not the title of Prince Harry’s new book.

It is an amazing natural phenomenon. This is when trees in a forest give each other space, and often don't touch one another, even in windy conditions.

A picture is worth a thousand words, please do check out this video.

I find it really hard not to come back to this video and just watch it. So peaceful and beautiful.

I am Kristjan, by the way. CEO & Co-Founder of Arbonics. We at Arbonics are giving landowners fair rewards for the good their forests do for our planet.

But this newsletter isn't about what we're building - it's about the interesting things I am discovering in nature, the technologies that are being developed, and the ways in which we can all make a positive impact on the world around us. To me, one of the greatest things in life is the endless pool of new things to discover and learn from.

I decided to call the newsletter Wild Crowns. Out of respect for the structures nature has formed. And also using crown shyness as a reminder for humans - how to operate in a way that leaves space for others as well.
